Hello There Macintosh User!
If you are getting this email you have sometime been a client of mine — Thank you for your past custom! Mr Mac Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mrmacbyronbay
1. Viruses, Trojans and the Mac: You may have noticed the attention in the press recently as there have been some Trojans detected on the Mac. Finally we’re getting some attention! Unwanted though it is. These aren’t actual viruses that infect the computer and send themselves to other people via your computer, but they aren’t very nice and we should be more careful now than we’ve ever been. The easiest ways to be safe and happy are 2 fold: run Software Update on your computer paying particular attention to the Java and Security updates and install the free Clam XAV virus checker and run it periodically. I do mine monthly. This page explains how to download and install Clam XAV: http://mrmacintosh.com.au/how-to-/48-bits-and-pieces-of-useful-information/91-chercking-for-viruses.html
2. Call Recorder for Skype: Many people are using Skype as an interview or consulting tool and need to be able to record the conversation in audio or video. Call Recorder for Skype does it very simply for $20 with a 7 day trial to see if you like it. When you open Skype it adds a floating panel with a Record button, simple and elegant. http://www.ecamm.com/mac/callrecorder/
3. The Hit List: A lot of us are list people: we make lists and work through them to get things done. The Hit List uses that method to organise everything that you do into lists and syncs with iCal too. With a free iPhone app that syncs with your Mac and a free 15 day trial to see if you like it, this could be the one for you. $50. http://www.potionfactory.com/thehitlist/
