1. Lytro Camera: Photography will never be the same again… The light-field camera allows you to re-focus and zoom in after the shot is taken! Amazing. https://www.lytro.com/camera

2. iTunes U: Generally overlooked, the iTunes U tab in the iTunes Store part of iTunes is an amazing free educational resource offering documents, audio and video from academia all over the world, but primarily the USA. http://www.apple.com/education/itunes-u/

3. Find My Friends: Once you and your friends or family have installed this free app on your iOS devices you can see where each other is using your iCloud account. Can be temporary for meetings or on always for keeping track of kids etc.

4. Learner Driver Recorder: Is a nifty little app that lets any Australian learner driver to record their logs and authorise them. $2.99 and lets you upload the data automatically to a secure server. Excellent for new drivers.

5. Comics on the iPad: An excellent free-for-a-short-time-only comic is CIA Operation Ajax which tells the 1953 story of the CIA operation to topple the democratically elected government. (After all democracy is only good if they elect people you approve of!) This is a 210 page state of the art graphic story with period newsreels and extra related info. Comics is a free app offering 500 free comics and 15,000 that can be bought directly through it from a lot of different comic and graphic novel publishers.

6. Lion Designer: Change the look of the Lion 10.7 backgrounds of Mission Control, the Login screen, Dashboard and LaunchPad from their standard look to be more interesting. Free. http://moritzwette.mo.funpic.de/liondesigner/

7. Cuptakes: This is for the girls out there who want feminine options for your desktop and login screens of your i-devices! You can have them all the same so your iPhone matches your iPad matches your computer desktop. Lotta fun for $5.49 http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/id420479957?mt=12

8. LA Final Cut Pro User Group: This is a very strong user group with free forums, once you register, where you can find tons of assistance in the use of Apple’s industry standard video editing software. Help with both the original FCP 7 and the new FCP X. http://www.lafcpug.org/

9. Window Resizing Plugin: Sizewell will be of use to anyone who wants to resize windows and if you aren’t on Lion yet, offers full screen apps. Free. http://www.sizewellplugin.com/

10. Face Recognition Login: KeyLemon lets you take a recognition picture which you then use to unlock or login. Neat and free. http://www.keylemon.com/
