Hello There Macintosh User!

If you are getting this email you have sometime been a client of mine — Thank you for your past custom! Like the Mr Mac Facebook page for regular updates: https://www.facebook.com/mrmacbyronbay

I am now able to accept payment via VISA or MasterCard Credit Cards, with no surcharge

1. Collective Controls the Clipboard: If you would like to use the Clipboard on your Mac more intelligently then this $2.50 app might be for you. It remembers the last things you copied including the formatting, whether they are images, text or files. Very useful and has many features which you can choose to use or not like search, Favourites, excluding certain applications etc. Great to have access to recently saved things. http://www.generation-loss.com/collective/

2. Jackery Battery Monitor App: A freebie to keep tabs on your iDevice battery. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/jackery/id883063440?mt=8

3. Boost Cheap Mobiles on the Telstra Network: As an alternative to the main Telcos I and lots of others use Amaysim for mobile coverage, but they use the Optus network. If you need the Telstra network then Boost might be for you. $40 per month unlimited calls and texts is pretty good. You need your own phone though. Smaller plans also available. http://www.boost.com.au

4. Cheaper Wireless Backup: Although Apple sell their Time Capsule which backs all your computers up via your WiFi automatically using Time Machine it is a bit pricey. Western Digital sell a similar system and even though the setup isn’t as easy as Apple’s it costs less. WD My Cloud network hard drives are about $200 for 2TB and $270 for 3TB. A Time Capsule is $349 for 2TB and $449 for 3TB. http://www.wdc.com/en/products/personalcloud/consumer/

5. iTranslate for the Mac: Having been a success on i-Devices for a while now, iTranslate is available for your computer as well for $5. A translator and dictionary for over 80 languages it’s a popular global world app. https://itunes.apple.com/app/itranslate-translator-dictionary/id884952790?mt=12&ign-mpt=uo%3D4

6. Stream Videos from Your Mac to Your iPad: If you have movies on your Mac and want to watch them on your iPad it can be done easily with VLC Streamer for free. Setup is simple, an app for the device and one for the Mac. This page has the instructions. http://hobbyistsoftware.com/vlcstreamer

7. Take for Recording Your Ideas: Many creative wannabes use the iPhone Voice Recorder to put down ideas as they arrive from the great unknown. But it is limited. Take for free from the well know music software company Propellerhead aims to give you a few more options. You get up to 3 tracks, built-in clicks and loops and can record over the top of previous ideas. https://itunes.apple.com/app/take-creative-vocal-recorder/id887834536?mt=8

8. Drop DropBox for SpiderOak: DropBox is widely used for file sharing, but it refuses to encrypt the data on it’s servers – your data! The alternative is SpiderOak which also offers 2GB free and more for a monthly fee, but everything is encrypted before uploading and after downloading so only you and your password can decrypt your data. Safe. https://spideroak.com

9. Screenflick: This app won’t be for everyone, but some people will find it invaluable. It records your Mac screen or one of the windows, or an area of the screen as a movie. That movie can be exported as a small web movie or a full size high quality HD movie or as a Flash movie – your choice. If you make training videos or want to record your video blog etc this is for you. $30. http://www.araelium.com/screenflick/

10. Items for Sale: Is a free service. If you want to list something for sale send me the full description/specifications and contact details. 11. A Reminder of My Rates: I charge $110 per hour including GST. No call-out fee or travel charge in the Byron Shire. Half hour minimum. Telephone support costs the same in 15 minute increments. Email support is still free! Please include plenty of detail in your email inquiries. Serving the Byron Macintosh community for over 14 years. Until next time, Thank you Tommi ;>) 0418408869
