Mr Mac Update February 14

Hello There Macintosh User!

If you are getting this email you have sometime been a client of mine — Thank you for your past custom! Like the Mr Mac Facebook page for regular updates: https://www.facebook.com/mrmacbyronbay

I am now able to accept payment via VISA or MasterCard Credit Cards, with no surcharge

1. iTunes Radio in Australia: Many people like Spotify or Pandora for streaming music now have another option that is right in the iTunes toolbar next to Songs, Albums etc. You can create you own genre of stations and it learns your taste over time and makes suggestions. Good way to hear new music! There are some ads unless you subscribe to iTunes Match which is $35 per year and which also legitimises your record collection and lets you stream anything in your iTunes Music to any of your devices. http://www.apple.com/au/itunes/itunes-radio/ http://www.apple.com/au/itunes/itunes-match/

2. WhatsApp Messenger: SMS via WhatsAp mean you don’t get any SMS charges. Useful if your phone plan is limited…. http://www.whatsapp.com

3. TinkerTool: For those of you who want to tinker, reveal hidden files and change things like the default file format for screenshot — maybe from .png to JPEG — this free tool is for you. But be warned: unless you are competent don’t fiddle with what you don’t know! http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html

4. MenuBar Rearranger: And if you want more control over the menu bar at the top of the screen then this is for you. 10 day free trial then $12, it lets you change the actual menu bar to your own liking. Rearrange the date and time, WiFi icon etc. http://www.seense.com/mbra/

5. Let It Go: Very Byron Bay, this free app encourages you to write down with what frustrates you and then let it go!! https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/let-it-go-vent-and-release/id740828283?mt=8

6. Custom NC: The Notifications feature that has only been introduced in OS X 10.8 and later and you will either find it useful and love it, or hate it with a vengeance! You can of course turn it off in System Preferences/Notifications but this freebie lets you customise it to suit yourself. http://bch.us.to/apps/customnc

7. Jumper Card: All in one credit-card sized USB cable and phone charger that stores about half a normal iPhone battery capacity so you can bump it up as well as use the cable as a regular USB cable. $25. http://jumpercard.com

8. Emulsio: Claiming to remove any wobble or shake from videos shot on iPhones, this app is free, but needs an in-app purchase of $2 to make it work for more than 30 seconds and remove it’s watermark. http://www.creaceed.com/emulsio/about

9. Powerpot V: Camping anyone? With this saucepan you can charge your iPhone/iPad while making a cup of tea! So if you are away from a power outlet but near a heat source you can charge your devices. $150 http://www.thepowerpot.com/powerpot-v?ref=cat_img
