I am now able to accept payment via

VISA or MasterCard Credit Cards, with no surcharge

1. Telephone and Online Scams:

Be careful! There seems to be an rash of little pop-up messages that tell you your computer has been compromised, usually with a phone number to call to get it fixed. Several people have been caught out recently and let the person on the other end of the phone access their computer remotely. Followed of course by requests for credit card payment as well as login details to ‘reset’ your bank and other sensitive passwords.

These are all scams.

Even if they have now got cleverer and target Macs rather than as previously, when they would tell you your Windows computer had issues! (We know they’ve got issues, they are running Windows!)

Same deal with the telephone calls, where the person tells you that your computer has issues that must be dealt with immediately. Hang up right away, these are all dangerous scams.

Ignore them all along with the emails pretending to come from your bank…

2. GetFlix:

Clever service lets you access content from anywhere, ie you don’t get blocked because you are in the wrong country. Access shows as though you were in the country they are released. BBC iView, HBO, US Netflix any many more that we usually can’t get. $4 per month, plus of course the subscription to the service if there is one.

3. Control the Net:

Silencer lets you block what you don’t want and allow what you do. ‘Mute spoilers, people, hashtags, terms and phrases’.

4. Adobe Slate:

Amazingly enough Adobe have a free app! It’s for building websites but only runs on the iPad. Lots of fun and then you can publish the website for free as well…

5. Paste, Unlimited Clipboard History:

There are a few clipboard managers out there, they are useful things. This one, Paste costs $7.50 but offers unlimited clipboard history with good search features.

6. Up Brings Instagram to the Mac:

Instagram is very popular amongst photo sharing people but until now was only accessible from your iPhone. Now there is Up which lets you upload any image from your Mac for under $4.

7. iFunBox:

Free is good! This little app lets you look into your iPhone or iPad and manage files like you do in Finder, tweak games and use the device as an external hard drive. Cool.

8. Split Your iMac Screen in Half:

This utility splits the screen in half, exactly. Most useful on a big screen iMac but of course you could use it on a laptop too. Good for having 2 documents open when working on both. $9.
